After reading and really enjoying 'An Oath Taken', I was a little disappointed in this book. The storyline and the characters were great. The execution left me somewhat puzzled, though.*Spoiler Alert*
For example - the story seemed rushed - especially towards the end, when the hero Giric fights the evil Lord Bretane (Drostan)...considering the fact that the hero fought the villain in the villain's keep - where were the soldiers? It seemed off that there was no one else around.
And speaking of rushed - the ending was just that. The hero and heroine basically re-declare their love for each other after Drostan goes over a wall, then - THE END. Huh?
I was expecting more...like the fate of Drostan's poisoned father; the heroine Sarra being introduced to Giric's sister and brother-in-law; and/or Giric later meeting up with the kind couple who saved his life (ie to give them some gold and/or invite them to live within the walls of his keep...something)!
Anyway, I'm still not giving up on Ms. Cosby. I look forward to reading the third book of this trilogy soon!
3.75 stars.

An Oath Broken The Oath Trilogy Book 2 edition by Diana Cosby Romance eBooks Reviews
best book of the Oath Trilogy. make sure you order the 3 books under the Oath and you're understand it. I'm glad that i did order 3 books. happy to read .
I've read thousands of HR's and I must say Diana Cosby has yet to let me down! This last book in the "Oath Trilogy" is as fine as the first and second. She has a way of taking you on a visual journey with her words. Two people brought together by circumstance and both trying to protect King and country is what this book is about. And how through their journey and the supports from each other that are needed, they fall into love. Just got done reading it and must say, I love this book!! More and more Diana Cosby, that's all this reader wants!!
After reading An Oath Broken, I can remember why I so love medieval romance! This is one of those very few novels that totally drew me into the pages...as though a hand reached out of the book, grabbed me, and brought me inside. Not only did I find myself standing beside our H and h, but I could actually FEEL the wintry cold and the crunching of snow and ice beneath my feet (brrrrr), and "thaw out" within the warmth of the fires built throughout their journey-- which took up most of the story. This novel just flowed beautifully from beginning to end. This read was very worthwhile--a keeper--a novel I will be reading again. Thank you, Diana Cosby! Well done!
Omg, I love reading all of Diana Cosby's books because they never, ever disappoint. In fact I think they just keep getting better and better with each book she writes. Her love and knowledge of Scotland and it's rich history shines through in her writing, the characters and the depth of not only the characters, but the intricacies and twists of the plot. Diana Cosby is just a great writer.... The McGruder brothers series got me hooked, so now I have the individual book, but also the boxed set so I can re-read the books, one right after the other. The continuity of the series by using characters featured in the previous books, creates a wonderful flow from one story to the next. I must admit, Giric was a favorite character of mine from Book 1. I'm so glad that he and Sarra were able to share theirs. If want a great weekend read, this series will do the trick. I highly recommend that everyone take the time to invest in The Oath Trilogy! Now, on to book 3 ... 😀.
Posted by Muriel Covington. I came upon this selection advertised on BookBub sold by etc. and thought it sounded like something I would like to read. At first I was a little hesitant to read as one review in particular said language regarding the use of "nae" was distracting. I admit it was a little odd as the story was told in modern English with all references to no, not etc. changed to "nae". Once in-a-while the term "rood" was used but there were no other references to Gaelic/Scottish terms - just modern English. Aside from that, I loved the characters and the story line was really good. Lots of action. Great imagery. The author was very talented with her descriptions of emotions, scenery - like you were there. The ending of the story was well written but nearly identical to a story I read some time ago so that was a little bit of a disappointment. The only thing I didn't like was the abrupt ending. I would have liked the story to continue on - at least until Giric and Lady Sarra finally got home and settled. I gave it 4 stars because it was an enjoyable read - worth the time and the money invested. I would definitely read more by this author.
Diana Cosby creates wonderful, complex characters that take you to another time and place; characters that you take into your heart. In An Oath Broken, Lady Sarra is alone, a lonely heiress who has been summoned by her guardian to marry his son. With no other options presenting themselves, she must go with the despicable Scot her guardian has sent to escort her to his far away castle.
Giric, the escort is, a man of honor and will see his task complete, no matter how the aloof lady is, and no matter what obstacles cross their path. And obstacles abound, the unrelenting snow, wild attackers bent on murder, and not the least, desire that grows with each encounter. How could she have feelings for a man she hates?
Their journey reveals unexpected treachery as well as a deeper understanding of their own fears. Can they overcome past heartaches and mistakes? "An Oath Broken" is a wonderful story of adventure, healing, and forgiveness, of new possibilities and hope for the future. As always, Diana has woven a story that satisfies the romance lover and the history buff. It never fails to amaze me that people in the past lived and loved through such terrible times. Highly recommend this book!
